Course Outline

Dear Students of 4MG3,
I have revised the course schedule and order of assignments and the revised version is included here. I have also updated the schedule to include the guest speakers.

You will note that I have moved the original Assignment #1 to later in the term (now due on October 28th ). It is now comprised of three topics and you can chose to report on one of the three. (detail is in the Course Outline).

I have also moved the group RFP assignment to Sept 23rd. We will spend most of the class on Sept 16th on this assignment, so you will have ample time to complete it.

Welcome to students of Strategic Philanthropy and Leadership – Good Decisions in Challenging Times Commerce 4MG3

I look forward to meeting you as we embark on this journey of discovery in philanthropy. For some of you this may be an introduction and for others you may already have experience in the charitable or “’third sector” as it is often called.

Living in North America, many of us have a privileged perspective on making a difference in the world. As we experience this course together, we will endeavour to explore the implications of this privilege as scholars, global citizens, future business leaders and community minded individuals.

Please come to class prepared to share your thoughts, dilemmas, ideas of action and challenges as we explore the unique financial and ethical opportunities of this work.

Sincerely,
Maria Antonakos
