14th Americas Conference on Information Systems
AMCIS 2008
Toronto, Ontario
Learning from the past & charting the future of the discipline
14-17 August 2008

We are very pleased to invite new MIS faculty to participate in this year's MIS Camp, which will be held at The Americas Conference on Information Systems on Thursday, August 14 2008 from 8am – 5pm.

MIS Camp has a long history of being beneficial to support junior faculty for their career development and managing work/life balance. MIS camp consists of a series of interactive sessions built around discussions of research, teaching, and service expectations as well as how to balance these with your personal life. There will be one senior or mid-level faculty mentor for each group of between three and five campers. Potential campers include AIS members beginning their first, second or third year in an academic position in the Fall of 2008. This format has been very successful in the past, partly because it allows new faculty to share their experiences at their new institution with peers from other institutions. If you have attended camp before, you should not attend this year.

MIS Camp will be facilitated by the following group of IS academics:

Camp Organizers:

• Suzanne Rivard, HEC Montreal, Canada, suzanne.rivard@hec.ca
• Ping Zhang, Syracuse University, USA, pzhang@syr.edu
• Peter Todd, McGill University, Canada, peter.todd@mcgill.ca

Camp Counselors:

1. Susan A. Brown, University of Arizona, USA
2. Armin Heinzl, University of Mannheim, Germany
3. Alan Hevner, University of South Florida, USA
4. Julie E. Kendall, Rutgers University, USA
5. Rajiv Sabherwal, University of St-Louis, Missouri, USA
6. V. Sambamurthy, Michigan State University, USA
7. Martin Santana, Universidad ESAN, Perú

Keynote Speakers:

Dan Robey, Georgia State University
Peter Todd, McGill University

Registration

All campers must be registered for the conference with a nominal fee of $50. In order to keep this experience an intimate one, registration is limited to 40 people. Notice that the camp is the day before the regular program begins, so you should plan to arrive in Toronto in enough time to begin bright and early Thursday morning. The camp won't be very valuable unless you are able to participate in the entire day!

We hope MIS Camp sounds interesting for junior faculty members! It should be both educational and a lot of fun.

To register for MIS Camp, you will have to register for the AMCIS Conference. You will be able to indicate on the form that you are attending MIS Camp.

We look forward to seeing you at MIS Camp in Toronto!
