Airfare on Air Canada
Air
Canada is the official airline of AMCIS 2008 and will provide
attendees with a 10% discount off one-way or
roundtrip fares to/from Toronto. To be eligible, travel must
take place on or between Saturday, August 09, 2008 and Friday,
August 22, 2008; tickets must be purchased on
aircanada.com, either by yourself or your travel agent;
and you must enter the promotion code 3FX4CQE1
in the search panel at the time of purchase. The discount
applies to all fare classes except the limited Tango fares (i.e.
all Tango Plus and higher fare classes will be discounted 10%
when searching using the promotion code). The discount applies
to Air Canada or code-sharing flights (e.g., United, STAR Alliance
flights available through aircanada.com).

Trainfare on Via Rail
VIA Rail Canada
is the official ground transportation of AMCIS 2008 and will
provide attendees with a 10% discount off the
best available one-way or round-trip fare to/from Toronto (within
Canada). To be eligible, travel must take place on or between
Saturday, August 09, 2008 and Tuesday, August 19, 2008; tickets
may be purchased on
viarail.ca or through a travel agent by making reference
to Promotion Number 11210. The discount will
be applied to the lowest available are in all fare classes.
This discount is applicable to one delegate plus one additional
travel companion and the discount is subject to the conditions
and restrictions of the fare plan to which the additional 10%
discount is applied. You may be required to show proof of conference
registration when claiming or using your tickets. To book online
at viarail.ca,
login to your profile (if you do not have a profile, you can
create one) and proceed with your booking. On the "Passengers
Information" screen, select "Convention Fare"
as the Discount Type and enter 11210 as the Discount Code. The
fare will be recalculated to include the 10% discount.

II. Getting
Around
Getting
to and from the airport
Toronto's Lester B. Pearson International Airport (YYZ) is located
about 20 miles from the conference site in downtown Toronto.

Shuttle
Service: Pacific Western's Airport Express provides
24-hour air-conditioned bus service from the airport to downtown
hotels, including the Sheraton Centre. The shuttle runs every
20 minutes during peak periods and every 30 minutes during
off-peak periods. The one-way fare is $16.95 CAD per person;
the round trip fare is $29.25 CAD per person at the airport
or 10% less if you make reservations online. Click here

Taxicabs:
The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) has
a taxi service that serves the Sheraton Centre. The one-way

Public
Transit: Please contact the Toronto Transit Commission
by phone at 416-393-4636 for information on travel from the
airport to the Sheraton Centre Toronto. This would involve
buses and subways and is not an easy option.
From
Union Train Station:
Taxi - available outside of union station for approximately
$6 CAD.
Walk - via the PATH system underground or a five block walk
above ground. Above ground - turn west out of Union Station
to York Street, head north on York four blocks to Richmond Street.
The Sheraton is on the corner of York and Richmond.
Subway - Within Union Station terminal, take the subway two
stops west to Osgoode Station, Walk east on Richmond Street
to the Sheraton.
Parking:
Valet parking is available at the hotel at a rate of
around $33 CAD per day. Nearby parking lots average $15 - $20
per day including the the Toronto City Hall parking facility,
located directly across the street. The parking entrances are
off of Queen Street West, just after the Queen St. & York
St. intersection. The Sheraton Centre features direct underground
connection to the City Hall parking facility.

From the West
Also Toronto International Airport -
Take 427 South and follow signs for QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way).
QEW turns into the Gardiner Expressway (eastbound). Follow
along on Gardiner and watch on right for York St. Exit. Take
York St. exit ramp slowly. Stay on left side of ramp and follow
York Street until it ends at Queen Street. Turn right onto
Queen and you will see motor entrance for hotel immediately
on the right. Welcome!
From
the U.S. and Niagara Region
Follow QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) into Metro. QEW turns into
the Gardiner Expressway. Follow Gardiner and watch on right
for York St. exit. Take York St. exit slowly. Stay on left
side of ramp and follow York Street until it ends at Queen
Street. Turn right on to Queen and you will see motor entrance
for hotel immediately on the right.
From
the East
Follow Highway 401 West to the Don Valley Parkway. Take DVP
South all the way to the Richmond St. exit. Get into right
lane of Richmond once at Bay Street - the hotel is on the
right at the corner of Richmond and York Streets.
Getting
around Toronto
The
Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) operates subways, buses, and
streetcars to get you around Toronto on one fare, provided it's
a one-way trip with no stopovers. The subway operates Weekdays
& Saturday approximately 6:00am - 1:30am and Sundays approximately
9:00am - 1:30am. Visit www.ttc.ca
for route and schedule information. The hotel is connected underground
with the subway (10 minute walk) and there are streetcar stops
located across the street from the hotel. Ask for a "transfer"
ticket from the driver. A taxi stand is located outside the
main doors.
